Fire-Weary: A Buddhist Poem

We are in pain whenever we dream,

Whene’er we stretch across the distance
To reach and hanker ‘til we ache.
Our bodies sweat, and our souls burn
Wake us up, we’re fire-weary,
So we can be free from this painful dreaming .
